Every juice cleanse is a new experience whether its your first or your tenth. And everyone will face different challenges and discoveries while cleansing the body. Here are a few tips that will help prepare you for the journey ahead.

Tip #1 Detox

Detox symptoms are no joke. Experiencing caffeine or sugar withdrawal on the first few days of a juice cleanse can make you wonder why you ever started. Before every juice cleanse spend 3-5 days weaning yourself off processed foods, dairy, meat, alcohol and coffee. Fill up on fresh vegetables, fruits, salads and home made vegetable soups. Remember everything you put in your mouth is either making you healthier or making you sicker - start making better food choices today.

Tip #2 Drink water

Drink lots of water, at least 1.5 litres a day. Water helps flush out waste materials from our cells and energises the body.

If you get bored drinking water try infusing with fresh fruits and vegetables such as

  • cucumber and mint
  • blackberry and kiwi
  • strawberry and lime
  • lemon and ginger

or drink hot water with lemon.

Tip #3 Schedule it

Particularly if you are working, you need to plan and prepare. When are you are going to prepare your juices - the night before? Plan your shopping trips, find somewhere cold to store your juices at work, and be prepared for your well-meaning workmates to turn up with cake.

Just remember you have chosen to do this cleanse and the benefits you will gain far outweigh that slice of cake that would likely scupper your cleanse.

Tip #4 De-stress

During the first few days you may feel tired so don't overload yourself with things to do. Chill out, relax and enjoy a little downtime. Soon enough you will be bursting with energy and ready to take on the world!

This is a great time to catch up on sleep, watch movies or read a good book.
